DESCRIPTION
We’ve wrung our hands and tried everything we can think of for mobilizing and motivating today’s workforce, even things that might go against our grain a little - or a lot! But perhaps it’s the way we’ve been thinking about the new workforce that is holding back our creativity. In many ways (outlined in the article by the facilitator that registrants will receive), the new generation resembles true volunteers more than ever, and while that might not be true by definition, it very well may be true in principle. For example, even though our employees are paid, most of them often don’t do what we tell them, don’t plan to work for us long, and are more often questioning working the hours that Extension has historically demanded, which is very different from generations of the past. While we can’t afford the over-the-top perks we’ve heard about from Silicon Valley, we can certainly afford to try a new way of thinking. And if you attend these sessions, you will. This combined pre and post conference session will introduce the idea, help you investigate the idea on your own, and collect new ideas you can try and build on long after the conference to better attract, keep, and motivate the new workforce so you can earn the most from them in return.
