Recommendation was made to continue with the response to the panel discussion on disaster preparedness.  Nayada asked if the panel will target human issues of just the disaster.  The response was that human issues will be discussed.

We will have break-out committee meetings.  We can do our work plan (action items) that is needed for Wednesday.  However, all information must be submitted on Tuesday.

Thelma and Deborah will meet prior to the trip to Puerto Rico to have dialog pertaining to retirement gifts.

Dr. Mary Gray will be unable to attend on Tuesday.  It was mentioned that perhaps Dr. Lorenzo Lyons be given consideration for input.

According to Mary Francis, Judy Warren has recommended that someone discuss web evaluations.  There is a need to discuss state reports template.  Also, CECP is to be part of eXtension.

Nayada inquired about our revisiting the rotation of committee members.  Sandy will let us know about the rotation.

The question was raised whether our group would want a video of Dr. Gray. Some thought needs to be given to whether or not accommodations for set up will be available.  There will be wireless services provided in the rooms.  With regards to Mary Gray, we need to have her on our conference calls in the future.

Sandy asked what more should be included on the agenda.  We have had discussions regarding to Food Stamp Nutrition Education and Expanded Foods and Nutrition

Education Program. Perhaps Beverly can give an overview on this.  It was stated that we can poll the group at the 8:30 a.m. Wednesday meeting.

An inquiry was made pertaining to time given to Beverly to lead a discussion about the state template.  Per Beverly, she is to contact Nina Boston regarding this to make it available to the other committees.  We will submit ours; and Nayada will compile the report.  Each of us can have our own report.  Deborah indicated that if others had something to share then they can do so.  Items can be added.

Beverly volunteered to send information to the list serv asking the Southern Region group to use the template.  People can bring information that will be placed in a central location.

Sandy asked us to check our emails to ensure that we have received information.

Ellen indicated that she had developed her own list serv for program leaders and that Sandy can send the information to her as backup.

Ellen inquired about an LCD projector.  Sandy responded that there would be no accommodations.  Thelma will bring her laptop computer to record the minutes.  However, we can have handouts to review prior to the meeting.

Sue stated that she would ask Jorge to bring a small projector.  Sandy asked Sue to request Jorge’s response and copy it to Ellen Murphy.  If Jorge says no, we will go on with the initial proposed plan.  Deborah stated that she has food/nutrition on her laptop.  She indicated that she would burn it on a disk just in case.

Ellen informed the group that the CECP fly-in meeting was successful.  Jorge led the housing group.  There were specialists present from 14 states.  It was a very productive meeting.  The module development is moving ahead.  Fly-in meetings are necessary to keep the momentum going.  One module of all the disciplines is to be peer-reviewed by the end of the year.  Sandy commended Ellen for the leadership she has provided to this initiative.

Sandy asked for an update on Lynn Russell.  Beverly informed the group that Lynn had a PET scan and that she was doing well.  However, she had not received any news within the past three weeks.  Ellen stated that she had spoken with Lynn’s secretary and that the PET scan showed a little bit of cancer left.  It is with hopes that the next round of chemo will get it all.

Lynn had planned to go to Puerto Rico.  Beverly said that she had been requested by Lynn to give the update report on the staffing survey.  Sandy will contact Lynn and let her know that we miss her.

Sandy asked if we thought another short (perhaps a 15-minute) conference call would be needed for the benefit of those who were absent from this call.  She stated that she would forward information to us.  The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully recorded and submitted by Thelma Sanders-Hunter
