Mission

Extension subject matter specialists, program and staff development specialists, communications and information technology specialists, program leaders, and academic professors develop a wealth of education and training resources for use in teaching and Extension in the land-grant system. In the development of these resources, even in times of budget constraints, there often is:
  • Significant duplication of efforts across institutions and states,
  • Lack of encouragement for collaboration, and
  • Inconsistent quality.
To address these issues, the Association for Southern Regional Extension Directors (ASRED) in cooperation with the 1890 Extension Administrators (AEA), agreed to support an effort, under the auspices of SR-PLC, to develop and launch a multi-state curriculum development project for Extension in the Southern Region. The initial focus is curriculum for professional development competencies. The intent of the project is to increase the breadth and quality of training while using human and financial resources more efficiently.

Vision

CECP will develop a framework for a content management system (CMS) for educational resources, with the ability to later expand into a learning management system. Directors and Administrators will be committed to the extent that each 1862 and 1890 land-grant institution in the Southern Region will provide team members who will participate cooperatively in the development of curriculum materials and will support them financially and administratively. As a result of this collaborative project, Extension professionals will be able to access on-line educational resources that are readily available, easily sharable, and of high quality, and meet current needs for training.
