2003-2004 Annual Reports

SOUTHERN EXTENSION FARM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (SEFMC)

PURPOSE OF GROUP:

To improve the quality and quantity of Extension educational programs delivered within each state through collaboration with Extension farm management specialists in the 13-state Southern region.

SUMMARY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CURRENT/RECENT MAJOR PROJECTS:

· Provided joint leadership with the Southern Marketing and Public Affairs Committees to conduct the Annual Outlook Conference held in September in Atlanta, GA. · Helped with the planning of the North Central Tri-Annual conference held in Kentucky in 2004. · The farm records subcommittee led the effort in developing a database of enterprise budgets and budget generators listed on National Agricultural Education Risk Library web site. · Most states are participating in grants funded by the SRRMEC and USDA RMA. · Formed a sub-committee to update and revise the Farm Management Handbook

PRIMARY DISCIPLINE:

Agricultural economics - extension specialists with a management focus.

OTHER DISCIPLINES WHICH PARTICIPATE:

None regularly, however, occasionally area agents with other agronomic backgrounds participate.

Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas.
